"Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today."

Client-Centered Approach

Do you need help finding balance in your life or coping with a difficult time? I use a variety of therapeutic intervention strategies in counseling sessions. I work with diverse populations in an open, affirming, non-judgmental, trusting environment to help you identify tools for improvement. Some clients come for a few sessions, others need more time; we will work together to ensure that your sessions are productive for you. My work is with adults, and includes individual counseling. Participation from family members is welcome.

My Story

I was introduced to clinical social work during my teenage years while experiencing a major medical illness in my family. I was drawn to the field by the positive experience of having professional support in managing a difficult time. I have 20 years of experience in helping people identify and achieve their personal goals by coping with the issues that are causing them distress and interfering in their life. I specialize in providing support to those coping with medical challenges and their caregivers, as well as work surrounding grief, loss, depression, anxiety and relationships. I believe strongly in the mind/body connection and the support that spirituality can provide in healing. I am skilled at and enjoy connecting with clients; research demonstrates that the client/therapist relationship is the basis upon which successful therapy is built. I work with clients to learn to practice tools and strategies which are proven by research to support progress with coping and emotional regulation. Please contact me to learn more.

Experience

I received a Master's degree from the University of Southern California's highly regarded School of Social Work. My studies included a focus in health-related issues. I have trained and worked at several major medical institutions in the U.S., including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. These experiences have provided me with a broad foundation that integrated the knowledge I acquired in school with practical applications in real world settings.  I was fortunate to receive outstanding clinical supervision. More recently, I have worked in a variety of medical and community-based settings, including providing mental health counseling in the outpatient clinic at Mt. Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital. I am passionate about my work, which is supporting YOU as you work through life's challenges and stressors to achieve your best self.
